Aliens, et al.

This weekend was MUFON, the UFO symposium. My mother (who I invited) didn't come because she got a new job. It was a really great conference. We got tons of interviews and met lots of very nice people. Plus I got some great camping/roadtrip ideas.

We interviewed Lind Moulton Howe, who loved us because we were a bunch of female reporters. She started out as a reporter for Channel 7. She was a very nice woman, and very popular so it was great she took the time to talk to us. She has been threatened by the government and stared down a man-in-black with a gun in her face.

Ken and Bob were great, they are both Colorado police officers and Bob is a former marine. They told us all sorts of stories about a roadtrip to Utah they took to find the new "area 51". Showed us photos of helicopters that followed them (4 big black helicopters) and showed us amazing photos from thier trip. I want to drive the Poney Express road and go out there, mostly to see what the military does.

Brian Boldman was a very very nice man. His research is in stuff called "Angel Hair" which is similar to spiderwebs (but with some crazy volitiles, he showed me the chemical analysis) but covers ares of 30 miles. He was very nervous about giving his talk and doing interviews but he was awesome. After his talk he asked Sam and I what we thought.

Ted Phillips was also very nice and his research is interesting. He looks at landing sites and does forensic investigations on possible encounters and the evidence left behind.

I think the thing I liked most about the conference was that is was about physical trace evidence, therefore when I was hearing talks and interviews, I would come up with all sorts of lovely science questions. I am not really a skeptic but when it comes to anything, I am skeptical.

(an wow, the guys mowing the lawn just broke our window...awesome. scared the crap out of me. they caught a rock in the mower, it disloged and broke out window. damnit.)

Anyway it was a really interesting conference, and as far as I am concered... like in the movie Contact, if we are the only ones in the universe then it was a big waste of space.

Sam and Emilie hooked up with the only guys at the conference who were our age and were hot. I felt like the 5th wheel because they all ditched me at one point after the conference so I ended up talking to there 40-50 somethings about Big Foot and really couldn't go home since I was Sam's ride. I was feeling pretty ticked and depressed. But whatever, I'm fine.

And for those "Eating Raoul" fans... there is an episode of "Amazing Stories" with Paul and Mary and man is it WEIRD. I just saw it.

Also I think I am going to have a Alien party: alien cake, play "Destroy All Humans", watch some cheesy Alien movies. I think it'd be fun.
