Trav and I went to go see MIA at the Gothic Theater. I dragged Travis because no one wanted to go with me. Drove down to Denver at night for the first time. It was fine, I was really pretty okay.
The opening DJ were interesting. DJ Black and the Whities.... yep, that was their name. The DJs on the turntables played old 60's hits but with techno backbeats. Like Diana Ross Techno. It was funny and crazy.
DJ Black reminded me of a young hip hop version of Michael Jackson, like the way he moved and dressed. He was really good.
It was all sort of dancey hip hop, lots of good stuff.
DJ Contra was on after and DJed for MIAs set. Before MIA came on he played lots of fun music including Bloc Party followed by the funky booty shakin beats of Rio Baile Funk's "Who Let the Dogs Out" in Portuguese. We have both at the station.
MIA was amazing. I would have gotten a better photo of her but it was dark (so my camera had issues) and we were standing next to the security guard. Apparently we could take as many photos as we liked of the opening acts, just not MIA.

MIA was just amazing to see in concert. Really great. She loved pulling people from the crowd to dance on stage and thrusting the mic into the crowd to hear them sing. She got this one guy on stage who was booty shakin' it like none other. MIA and her backup singer were laughing so hard they almost couldn't finish the song.
I got a hoodie. It tanish brown, has Helicopters on it with little soldiers dropping down from them and then it has "M.I.A." on the lower back of it.
So my show this morning.... Mike M. was supposed to come in and DJ with me. He never showed up, so Pat filled in instead. Pat and I rocked it. We raised $1220 during my show!! I was so happy!!! We had a blast. Paul called (one of my regular listeners) and well as Jay from the Denver Zoo. Rock on! Totally made me happy. Oh yeah and Pat rocks with his keytar (took this picture yesterday morning, classic Pat).

Need to go study like mad.
Current Mood: Super happy!!!

are you serious dude?
the opening act definitely wasn't called DJ Black and The Whities, or whatever you said. It was SpankRock. www.spankrock.net They're signed to Big Dada records.
Holy shit. That kid is in my Linguistics class!!! And you are such a liar. I WANTED to go with you. But as I said just the other day, "I no longer have weekends, I have days called Saturday and Sunday where Saturday I dance and Sunday my mother plans shit and I don't sleep during the nights because I'm busy doing homework and holy crap why oh why did I grow up?" So there, you liar liar pants of fire. Wait, pants of fire or pants on fire?
Oh well, I love you anyway which is why I am excited about finding a great Christmas gift for you (yeah it's early, but it's so perfect, except that I will spend the next 3 months freaking out that you will have it, buy it, or someone else will buy it). Anyway, back to music editing for the show.
::: BIG HUGE HUGS!!! :::
