Brand new car, baby!--er...sorta

Last weekend was the "Two Day Defensive Driving Skills Course". Basically 14 students get to play in cone heaven.
After pulling up and parking, all the students gathered into the classroom. I sat down and after a minute or two in total silence one girl giggled and said "'kay...I HATE akward silences...I'm sorry...I just do...someone say something interesting!"
Me:"er...I bet I am the oldest one here."
Girl2:"No way...how old are you?"
Me: "Um...21."
Everyone:"NO WAY!"
Girl2:"Phew...I don't feel so old now..."
Everyone:*turns to her*"Wait....how old are you?"
Girl2:"17."
Well the 17 year old (aka Renee) was pretty funny, she brought toys like bouncing balls and cards which would play with in the classroom before going out or during lunch (it's been a long time since I played card games like B.S. and Egyptian Rat Screw or Spoons).
The skills course included a skid pad (in which I was able to do a 270), crash avoidance (basically go about 35-40, and then suddenly two of the three lanes close and you have go either right or left and it's really hard even for experienced drivers but you get the hang of it), so basic cone dogging activities, backing and packing, etc.
I've spent the last 3 days in classroom of drivers ed. er...uh...woo-hoo? It's been okay....er...educational. The teacher (Dave) today was pretty funny today, in one day he refered to Red Green, Hitchiker's Guide, Christmas Story, and after I refered to it on the sly via the JagHearse when asked about my fav car, Harold and Maude. Gary was cool too.
Oh and two things. Driver test no longer has a written portion and no longer includes parallel parking.
Yesterday I drove up Kipling (for like the 3rd or 4th time) of course with my nails in the steering wheel. Kipling scares me the most for some reason. I drove up Dinosaur Ridge (Dad kept telling me NOT to look at the rocks on the side of the road, depsite the awesome road cut when you come around that corner). Drove to Evergreen! I know! Mountain roads are fun! I really liked that drive. And I even drove on a bit of Freeway past the Buffalo ranch and the Clam Shell House on I-70. I got off before the death curves because again with the nails in the steering wheel thing going by semi-trucks.
Current Mood: Happy. 3 days till I am 22 and probably 3 months till I will get my license.
Current Music: PBS. I was watching a thing on wolves, bears and salmon. Oh my!
