Catching Up a Bit

So the MRI...

Getting an MRI is a very odd experience. After filling out paperwork, one of the male nurses tells me about what they are going to do. He tells me that about halfway through they are going to inject this fluid in me, and that I may experience dizziness and/or headaches. I laughed and he gave me an odd look until I explain to him that is exactly why I am there, so I may not notice a difference. So I go back and a very nice female nurse, Sandra, takes me to the giant tunnel, she tell me that the whold thing should take about 20 min. As we are walking, I see other patients in their own litte tunnels and it looks like a massive control room with three or four nurses and photos of brain images everywhere.

Just before I lay down on the table, Sandra asks me if I have any questions.
"Just one." (a curosity since I had to take off all any metal I had on)
"Okay..."
"What about this?" I point to my cartilage piercing in my right ear
"How did that get in there?!" she asks, I stare at her blankly for a momment like she is nuts
"...I am just joking." she continues and she says in the most polite, calm voice...a voice that could tell you that an a-bomb was being dropped on New York as if it were no surprise "Well the machine could arc and burn your ear. If is gold or silver, it's not a problem."
"It's stainless steel" Now I am thinking...
"Oh no...no.no.no...."
"Can you take it out?"
"Um, no. I just got in December. I have no idea how to get it out."
"Well, we'll just cover it up with gauze and tape, and hope that'll work. If you are going to be coming in and doing this on a regular basis, you may want to get a gold or silver ring"
"I really hope I don't have to do this on a regular basis..."
I lay down on the table and she wraps my right ear up.
"Now, there is a mic and speaker in the machine, so if you have any problems or your ear starts to hurt let me know..."

Me at this point = freaked out

It was a really loud odd experience. They gave me ear plugs and I had to close my eyes because of the lasers. Each scan starts out with a series of noises, like chi-clunks and clicks. It was really weird because each scan set lasted between 5-10 min and had a series of sort of beats and sort of sounded like Xerophonics album "Copy Machine Music", there could be an album of "MRI Music". I keep saying that the MRI is odd and weird because it made me aware of different parts of my body depending on the noises, like my legs, my eyes, etc. Yeah, sounds nuts. You'd have to get one to understand.

I got the results of my MRI today. I'm fine. Well at least my brain is, but they still don't know what is causing my migraines. My dad wants me to quit the camp job for this summer. I say no but we'll see.

Current Mood: Tired, the newest meds suck.
Current Music: Cartoon Network.....again.
