Hmmm...what can I say about today....
It's my dad's big 50 birthday!
I worked...meh. The usual, I made filaments (they are used to run rock samples and look similar to a lightbulb filament..only bigger..and we make them by hand...yay spot weld!) and boiled HCl (sounds cool but at this point it's ho-hum...I do it almost everyday). Tomorrow I get to make a run to the lab supply shop on campus and get stuff, and then I have to clean a bunch of used filaments, and get to take powder samples and cut them down to a gram (it's called spiliting). We basically take whole rock and powder it down to almost a fine talc (I like doing that but it either involves an unbalanced rock grider in the basement or getting blisters from hand grinding) and then run it through a bunch of chemisty to figure out how much of certain rare earth elements are in it. My job is pretty cool even though it is tedious, my bosses rock...like granite.
Calc...meh it's Calc 2 and it's at 7:30am Monday through Friday.
So while I am being self-indulgent (I mean, it's that the point of a blog really, even if you don't realize it at first) I redsicovered two things about myself.
1) I love little kids. I could totally be a elementary school teacher and be pretty happy. I made a baby smile today and that warms my heart. I also love animals...so I could be a vet or pediatrician...which are sometimes the same thing. And just becasue I have a hello kitty comforter, cook and clean, and love little kids and animals does not mean I am getting soft...I could still kick your ass if I had to. :) :-P
2) I don't know how to put it, but I was recalling the first guy I obsessed over....god I was such a dork. 8th grade...I don't know what the hell I was thinking. It was like, I dunno, TB stalking (if you don't know about my hardcore stalker TB just ask....you may not want to ask why he is called TB...trust me...and no it's not one of the creepy guys at the radio station or my 'buddy' who always calls, whom by the way, is now listening every time I am on...*sigh* why don't cute my age guys ever stalk? even if they are crazy they'd be nice to look at...) so yeah it was like TB stalking although not so much on the restraining orders or multiple stalkings. But yeah it just made me realize I've come a long way since then, which I think is a good thing.
I am pretty happy, Friday I am having lunch with Clay and it'll be good to hang out with him...I am a little low on good hugs.
Oh so we had out community meeting for the Quad (the dorm ares I live in), there are two Indian guys (who I think live in my building) and one of the residents from Sewall whom I talked to till like 3am is living nearby this summer. He is an interesting kid, film major.
Alright bedtime for me....and in the morning...waffles!! whooh!
(Yes...I do enjoy the little things in life)
