Inspired by Miss Londyn's blog (and the fact I can't get to my homework assignment on the web), I will talk about the random classes and whatnot going on.
So just fyi, I did move rooms at break. I am now down on the cool kids side of the hall and not the bowling alley which still smells like smoke (I would have killed someone if I still had to live there). Now I am across from the bathrooms which rocks my socks. I do however have to sleep with ear plugs in because the walls of my room are paper thin. I have a south facing window and thanks to Travis, my room is really clean. Awww...my OC boyf. And I've kept clean. Yay for avoiding homework!
Classes:
Physics 1120 - Calc based Physics 2
Round 3, yes the third time I am taking this course. I hate E&M. And despite having to buy a registration code for the evil Mastering Physics homework that penalizes you for guessing....there are some good things. I have the class with Daniel, and my geology buddies Kate, Dan, and Paul. Plus my former next door neighbor and floor mate, Drew. My professor is actually really good thus far, so I feel a bit better about the course. I decided to switch recitation sections because it was way crowded and I have taken this course so often I knew my TA was nice but she's a hard grader... I talked to the professor and found out the awesome TA I had last semester is teaching the section that had very few people in it. So I have Mike, and he's great at explaining Physics.
Geophyiscs - Dropped it.
It was going to be way too much for this semester.
Geology - Topics on Mars graduate course
Amanda and I are the only undergrads and two of the three who are actually doing Geology. Everyone else is Astronomy or Physics grad students. So far the class has been lots of pretty pictures and our final is a research paper. The reviews of Geology are boring. And that's been most of what were are doing. The best quote was when Brian (our professor) said about the Mars photos "Here are some nice sexy photos."
GIS for the Web - CU-Denver class
Class is going to be cool but exteremly hard. We had to code in UNIX the other day and OMG I haven't done that since I was like 12! We are doing HTML and Java right now and hopefully I can get to my assignment soon to work on it.
Radio Production - Taught by Mike our General Manager at the station
Talked a bit about this class before. It's awesome, half station kids and Mike is so funny. The other day we listened to 40's radio shows and here's a sample of the quiz we took:
1) What is the Lone Ranger's horse's name?
2) What is the name of Superman's homeplanet?
3) Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
4) What is the name of the Green Hornet's uncle?
(answers in the next blog)
Whatnot:
Things with Travis are going really well. We are going to Matt A. (Captain Obvious) house because it's his birthday so he's having a party! I think I am going to burn Matt some CDs. Trav is going to let me drink tonight and be my DD. He's my sweetie. :) Emilie from my Radio Production class is going to cover my show for me which rocks my socks so I don't have to worry about coming back early.
I got to see Rachel (from DU) for a short time yesterday, she was in Boulder with a bunch of archealogists for a conference.
My new glasses are awesome. They actually look a bit more like my reading glasses. But between them, books, and shh! valentine's, I am way broke.
