Bus ride

I went to Torrid on Monday to finally pick up my costume. Unfort the Bjork dress didn't fit so I am going as a 50's housewife in a lovely pink/black flower print dress....I know, pink dress. Me thinks I am becoming a girl, I mean I am wearing a skirt as we speak.

I rode the bus all the way down to South West Plaza. It's been a long time that I have rode a regular bus, not in Boulder. I took the B and that was usual for me. Then I took the 76 all the way down Wadsworth from Broomfield, which takes at least an hour. I love people watching on the bus.

I saw a group of "punk" kids get on the bus at Colfax. I say "punk" becasue they are too young (as I am, I will admit) to pull off orginal punk. There were 3 of them, one with a green 5 inch moehawk, another with emo hair, and another wearing a checkered cabbie hat. They all had decked out leather jackets with tons of studs, tight pants with patches, and t-shirts with punk bands (sex pistols, buzzcocks, etc). What cracked me up was in this group you could pick out the leader of the clic, the guy in the cabbie hat. How do I know he is the leader, he does most of the talking, defending, and tells the group where they are going. He is assertive and you can tell. Well about one stop after the "punk" boys got on, the "hippies" got on. I use the tem hippies becasue that is what the "punk" boys called them, apparently they went to the same school, and the "punk" boys called the two kids hippies. I couldn't figure out why though. Anyway one of the hippies asks the leader what is up with his hair, and the leader pulls off his hat to reveal a blue strip down the middle of his short. "You look like a skunk.", says the hippie. "Shut up." relpies the leader as he puts back on his hat, clearly embarrssed. I was amused watching these high school kids.

I am now reminded about earlier in the bus ride of another kid (high school agedish) dressed in a full suit, talking to a friend. He said "You know, my shoes cost the same amount of the course I am taking, $175!"....but he said it in a way that was not bitter toward the cost of the shoes or the course but rather a bost and a put down for people that can't afford to spend that kind of money. I thought that the kid is an arrogent little type who hopefully will get a taste of bitter reality.

I smiled when a women got on later with her two kids. They were so cute! One boy and one girl about the same age. The littl girl had big beautful dark eyes and was fastinated by everything. She has her hair pulled back in big Hello Kitty clips which was really cute. The little boy was just as adorable, he has the same big eyes. There mother was just smiling the whole time with her arms around the two kids. They just sat, talked and watched the world around them. They were probably about 4 or 5 years old. It made me happy just seeing them.

The whole bus ride was just fun. I think it was fun for me because I see beauty in simple things. The way the light hit the buildings, how people interact with eachother, the way the leaves fall. I tried to think why this was, I think it was the fact that I saw Harold and Maude at a young age and so I try to embrace every simple moment.

I spent most of yesterday at the station so I could get the 1190 Mix done. I have cover art and now I am just deciding which tracks go and which stay. I can only make one CD. I saw Ben yesterday. And I was refelcting on the whole situation, I wouldn't mind having a cuddle buddy. He wants to give the friends speech, except we are friends, so maybe we can do the cuddle buddy speech?
